Libano
is a small "pueblo" about four hours outside of Bogotá, Colombia.
It is in one of the main coffee growing regions in the lush, green mountains
of Colombia. But its beauty is often clouded by poverty and desperation.
Many people have fled to Libano from the violence of a civil war that plagues the
countryside. Many people have lost crops because of a worm that destroys coffee plants.
Two Viatorians work with the young people of Libano.
Father Brian Cooper, C.S.V., and Father Pedro Herrera, C.S.V. have a vision much
like Father Louis Querbes, the Viatorian founder. They have responded to the cries of the
poor through their work at San Antonio Maria Claret - a school where books, resources and
money for teacher salaries are in short supply.
They educate the youth of Libano, minister to the
poor in the community, and bring hope to the unloved. Much like Father Querbes, these
Viatorians have chosen to make a difference.
